With our mission in mind, the Chamber develops a Program of Work each year. The Program of Work is essentially a list of specific, strategic goals to accomplish over the coming year. It is developed using input from members through an annual survey, the annual Board of Directors Planning Session and staff input. Here are our goals for 2018.
Strategic Goal #1 - Enable Member Success
Strategy 1: Increase membership retention by improving the member experience and providing impactful benefits to help existing businesses succeed.
Strategy 2: Provide educational opportunities, including professional and business development, for our members.
Strategic Goal #2 – Grow the Economy
Strategy 1: Improve the local economic business climate through strong partnerships with local, regional, and state governments and authorities.
Strategy 2: Develop campaigns to encourage residents to buy locally and support Dahlonega and Lumpkin County businesses.
Strategy 3: Support economic development through education and building a strong workforce.
Strategy 4: Serve as the lead organization to implement a broad community visioning with community partners.
Strategic Goal #3 – Attract Visitors
Strategy 1: Utilize a balanced media mix to market and promote Dahlonega-Lumpkin County as a regional “hub” for North Georgia travel to our primary target markets and interest segments (Outdoor Adventure, Wine Enthusiasts, Arts & Culture, History & Heritage, Agri-tourism).
Strategy 2: Develop and enhance attractions, events, and tourism assets.
Strategy 3: Leverage local and regional industry partnerships through membership associations and cooperative advertising.
Strategy 4: Provide destination management services by assisting leisure and group travel, event planners, Georgia’s film and entertainment industry, and local accommodations partners.
Strategic Goal #4 - Advocate for All Businesses
Strategy 1: Monitor and advocate at all local, state, and federal levels on issues that affect the cost and ease of doing business and the quality of life in Dahlonega and Lumpkin County.
Strategy 2: Host sessions for members and citizens to communicate with county, city, state, and other elected officials.
Strategic Goal #5 – Develop Leaders
Strategy 1: Develop leaders in our community through leadership programs, committee involvement, and volunteer opportunities.
