With our mission in mind, the Chamber develops a Program of Work each year. The Program of Work is essentially a list of specific, strategic goals to accomplish over the coming year. It is developed using input from members through an annual survey, the annual Board of Directors Planning Session and staff input. Here are our goals for 2016.
Strategic Goal # 1 - Delivering Value to Our Members
Strategy 1: Increase membership retention by improving the member experience, providing impactful benefits to help existing businesses succeed.
Strategy 2: Attract new members through communication and community outreach.
Strategy 3: Provide educational opportunities, including professional and business development, for our members.
Strategy 4: Develop leaders in our community through leadership programs, committee involvement, and volunteer opportunities.
Strategic Goal # 2 - Growing the Economy
Strategy 1: Improve the local economic business climate through strong partnerships with local, regional, and state governments and authorities.
Strategy 2: Develop campaigns to encourage residents to buy locally and support Dahlonega and Lumpkin County businesses.
Strategy 3: Support economic development through education and building a strong workforce.
Strategy 4: Serve as the lead organization to implement a broad community visioning with community partners.
Strategic Goal # 3 - Attracting Visitors to Our Community
Strategy 1: Utilize a balanced media mix to market and promote Dahlonega-Lumpkin County as a regional “hub” for North Georgia travel to our primary target markets and interest segments.
Strategy 2: Develop and enhance attractions, events, and tourism assets.
Strategy 3: Leverage local and regional industry partnerships through membership associations and cooperative advertising.
Strategy 4: Provide destination management services by assisting leisure and group travel, event planners, Georgia’s film and entertainment industry, and local accommodations partners.
Strategic Goal # 4 - Serving as a Voice For Business
Strategy 1: Consistently monitor and advocate at all levels of government on issues that affect the cost and ease of doing business and the quality of life in Dahlonega and Lumpkin County.
Strategy 2: Serve as a liaison between Chamber member businesses/organizations and local government to effectively create a positive climate for business growth and capital investment.
Strategy 3: Host sessions for members and citizens to communicate with county, city, state, and other elected officials.

Strategy 1: Develop leaders in our community through leadership programs, committee involvement, and volunteer opportunities.
Strategic Goal # 6 - Running a Dynamic Chamber
Strategy 1: Ensure strong fiscal and operational management of the Chamber.
Strategy 2: Diversify income through non-dues revenue generators.
Strategy 3: Improve facilities for staff, members, and visitors through building repairs, renovation, and technology upgrades to protect the City of Dahlonega and Lumpkin County’s investment.
Strategy 4: Ensure professional, well-trained, and responsive staff.
