The Carl Vinson Institute of Government worked with a Steering Committee established by the Economic Development Team to ensure the plan included action steps, funding options, and other guidance for achieving the community vision, resulting in strategies that will produce tangible change and measurable outcomes. The Institute and the Steering Committee also looked to the other economic development planning efforts that have occurred and were occurring in the community, building on those efforts where appropriate. The planning process resulted in the establishment of benchmarks of success, along with a plan for collecting and analyzing data. Finally, the effort and work products were intended to predict and support desired elements for the concurrent development of a new Comprehensive Plan for Dahlonega and Lumpkin County.
