The Lumpkin County Development Authority is a conduit for economic development,
bringing public and private entities together to facilitate new local investment, business
expansion and job growth. We understand that cooperative leadership promotes quality
economic progress, so we’ve put a lot of energy into building relationships. When businesses consider expanding or relocating in our community, we have the right people ready to help.

Our mission is to “enable” development, to create conditions that support quality growth. We do that in many ways. We develop and sell industrial park sites and buildings. We recently funded a million dollar-plus public water and sewer project to open up the GA 400 corridor for commercial development. We provided bond financing for an $11-million expansion that allowed a plant to remain in our community, retaining and adding new jobs. We facilitated development of commercial regulations to ensure that development preserves the beauty and integrity of the county.

We are the lead agency for a project that is boosting regional fiber optics capacity to allow for growth of technology-based businesses. We have initiated strategic planning for major workforce and community development initiatives that will support the technology-based businesses this fiber optic infrastructure will bring.
