As an active member and investor in the Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Chamber of Commerce, you play a vital role in the success of our community at large. Without your support through the Chamber, many of the accolades and accomplishments that make Dahlonega and Lumpkin County great could not have happened.
Here are just a few of the Chamber’s accomplishments of the past year that are a direct result of your investment in the community and your peer businesses through the Chamber.
- Established a Women in Lumpkin Leadership (WILL) that has become a successful women’s networking group
- Grew the Six Gap Century and Three Gap Fifty Bike Ride, the Chamber’s largest fundraising event, from 1,600 riders in 2006 to 2,300 riders in 2008
- Expanded the Board of Directors from 12 Directors to 21 to increase the number of board members who represent tourism
- Held the first annual Dahlonega Celtic Music Festival to help merchants during a slow season in 2008
- Partnered with the Dahlonega Sunrise Rotary Club to host an annual Roast to raise funds for the 4th of July Celebration fireworks and parade
- Held two Eggs and Issues breakfasts for both U.S. Senators from Georgia, Senator Johnny Isakson and Senator Saxby Chambliss
- Received our designation as an Entrepreneur Friendly Community on February 26, 2008
- Held a free Job Fair for the 366 displaced employees of Mohawk Industry when they closed; 47 companies participated
- Took over the County Directional Signage Program to manage and install directional signs helping locals and tourists find their way
- Developed an Outside Reservations Board with 72 spaces for lodging, restaurants and tourist attractions to help tourists when the Visitors Center is closed at night
- Modernized the Welcome Center interior and expanded Fred’s General Store that sells Dahlonega-themed merchandise
