Who Should Participate in Leadership Lumpkin County?You are a good candidate for participation in LLC if you meet these criteria:
While many similar programs focus solely on young “emerging” leaders, LLC strives to incorporate a wide range of leadership experience levels in its class make-up. With an interactive, interpersonal curriculum designed to support both leadership skills development and exposure to community issues, LLC encourages participants to share the benefit of their own experience while they also learn from others. Time Commitments of the ProgramBeing selected to participate in Leadership Lumpkin County is an honor. With this honor comes an obligation to be present for each class and activity. Successful completion of the program requires participants to be punctual and to attend each class. Anyone missing more than one Class may not be eligible for Graduation. Those whose participation is sponsored by employers will be required to obtain supervisor signatures ensuring management’s support of the attendance policies of this program. Successful completion of the program requires participants to be punctual. With the exception of the evening reception, and graduation, class sessions can be expected to run from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. In addition to the below outlined dates, participants will be expected to commit to approximately 10-12 hours over the course of the program to activities outside the scheduled class times. The InvestmentThere is a $250 tuition fee to participate in Leadership Lumpkin County’s 2011-12 program. This modest fee covers program materials, supplies and activities, lunches, and participants’ graduation dinners. While the actual cost of the program far exceeds this amount, the Chamber of Commerce contributes substantial administrative, marketing and other support to LLC. Local businesses and community leaders also consistently invest in local leadership development through donations and sponsorships in support of LLC. The Application Process: What Next?Leadership Lumpkin County is managed by an advisory board of volunteer LLC graduates and Chamber representatives. After reviewing all applications submitted by the August 8th, 2011 deadline, the advisory committee will select up to 22 candidates to participate in the upcoming class. Every effort will be made to build a rich and balanced class that reflects diversity in every regard, including such factors as organizational affiliation and length of residence in the community. Out-of-town residents with strong, active ties to local businesses or other organizations will be considered. If selected for the 2011-2012 LLC program, you will receive a letter by September 1st and have until September 9th, 2011 to return the appropriate forms and tuition payment. At that point, you will be considered a current class participant and can expect to receive an invitation to attend the opening reception on September 13, 2011.
